Claude Code's npm build auto-migrates to the native installer in the background, but per anthropics/claude-code#26173 the migration sets installMethod="native" in ~/.claude.json without successfully creating the launcher at ~/.local/bin/claude. The npm install keeps working, but every start logs "directory ~/.local/bin does not exist" / "claude command not found at ~/.local/bin/claude".

Pre-create ~/.local/bin and symlink claude into it from the npm-installed binary so the startup self-check passes. If a future migration attempt actually succeeds, it will replace the symlink with a real native binary.

Also refactor install.sh and link-credentials.sh into named functions called from main(), and trim the oversized comment blocks across both scripts and the passthroughHostAuth option description.
